Black Appetit x Harvest | A Lockdown Guide to Sunday Dinner
In 2020, the time tracking tool Harvest invited a disparate group of artists, photographers, and writers to meditate on their experiences of the pandemic thus-far for a collective project called "Time in This Time." At the time, my roommate and I had been hosting clandestine dinners within our bubble as 'Black Appetit', trying to grasp onto any community we could.
We captured one of these dinners on film and wrote about the importance of food and ritual in uncertain times. This personal piece was collaboratively written by myself and Omotayo Balogun, with photos by Chris Yetka.
“We split our year into seasons and then into government-mandated phases, until it came down to this: there was a time before, and there is the Pandemic Present. Or for us: There was food, and there is Sunday Dinner.”
